It has only been 2 weeks since our first post relating to the Coronavirus outbreak but that feels like a lifetime ago now and a lot has changed in that time.
As an independent festival, it’s very difficult for us to “pull a festival out of a hat”, it takes months of planning and preparation by our small but very dedicated team. So, with this in mind and in light of the recent developments with Covid-19 we must now accept that it is no longer possible for this year’s event to go ahead as planned. This decision has not been taken lightly and we are beyond disappointed, we really did try to hang on in there, and make this happen.
Whilst we have considered postponing to later this year, we feel that it is more important to give our customers certainty and have therefore decided to move this year’s planned event to July 2021. This will be over the weekend of 16th 17th and 18th July 2021.
We would like to thank those sponsors, artists and suppliers who, although themselves are greatly affected by the current situation, have already agreed to support us. We ask for your support too as we move to protect the future of this local festival and ensure that it can continue in the community of Reigate for many years to come.
Be rest assured that your tickets for this year will automatically be valid for the new dates. However, for anyone not able to make the new dates a refund will of course be offered. All ticket holders will be contacted directly by email before the 14th April with further information and instructions.
If you have any urgent questions before then, please email us at hello@beerbopalula.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please bear with us though as we, like you are trying to get our heads around conjunctive verbs, partial fractions, overheated gaming consoles and keeping up with Joe Wicks 9am onslaught!
We would like to end this announcement by expressing our sympathy to anyone who has already been affected by this current situation and our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the front-line and key workers out there who are protecting us and keeping our country going through this crisis. So, to all the NHS Staff, Carers, Teachers, Armed Forces, Supermarket Staff, Transport Workers, Utility Workers, Construction Workers and NHS Volunteers – we salute you and thank you.
As for the rest of us – we just need to Stay Home, Protect the NHS and Save Lives.
Please stay tuned to our socials for further updates and the odd light-hearted “lockdown” anecdote and remember, “We are all in this together”
Love Sam, Jess Dog and The Beer Bop A Lula Festival Team x
